Stakeholder Engagement
Stakeholder engagement is pivotal to a successful deposit insurance system. The IADI Core Principle 10 on public awareness stipulates that, in order to protect depositors as well as to contribute to the country's financial stability, the public must be constantly informed about the benefits and limitations of an adopted deposit insurance system. Core Principle 10 requires the deposit insurer to continuously promote public awareness through a comprehensive and structured communication programme. Guided by this principle, the NDGA places stakeholder engagement at the centre of its mandate and routinely undertakes public awareness campaigns targeted at depositors, member institutions, and the general public. These campaigns are designed to build a clear understanding of the deposit guarantee scheme, including the protection it affords and its limitations, thereby reinforcing confidence in Namibia's financial system. This engagement is carried out on an ongoing basis in line with the NDGA's 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, which identifies public awareness and stakeholder collaboration as key priorities in strengthening the effectiveness and credibility of the deposit insurance framework.
